Downgrade PSP to Version1.5 Using PSP Battery
Many downgrade their PSPs to version 1.5 because that it's possible to upgrade the device to any version from 1.5. And if you upgrade your PSP to version 3.51, you can play any downloaded games and run any applications. Things needed: an original PSP battery (with more than 50% charge), a Memory Stick Pro Duo with 1GB memory or above.
I. Ready to downgrade -Reformat PSP memory stick
To do the downgrade task, you are required to reformat your PSP memory stick first like this:
1. Press the HOME button which locates down the bottom left of your PSP.
2. Go to System Settings.
3. Push the "Enter" button of your PSP (the "X" button or the "O" button according to your own PSP setting, here taking "X" for example) and scroll to select the "Format Memory Stick" option.
4. Click "Yes" when your PSP ask whether you want to reformat the device or not. After that your PSP will be physically formatted in a few seconds.
Now,you need do one more thing: Download Pandora Battery Application Pack. Decompress the downloaded compressed application pack named "pandora" to the root directory of a hard disc, say Disc H. In this "pandora" folder which contains four folders: msinst, battery, imspformat, and installer, and a file named UPDATE.PBP.
II. Turn the PSP battery into a padora's battery
Step 1: Logically reformat your PSP Connect your PSP to your computer. And your PSP will be recognized as a new hard disc, say K. Then click Start -> Run, input cmd in the popped up dialog box, and click OK to enter DOS system. Use the below commands one by one to run the mspformat file:
Input "H:",(Here H is the disc where the "panndora" folder is placed) -> press "Enter" -> Input "cd pandora" ->press "Enter" again -> Input "cd mspformat" -> press "Enter" -> input "mspformat.exe K" -> press "Enter". (Here K is the name of the disc that your PSP is recognized on your computer.) After that, your PSP will be logically reformatted in a minute.

Step 2: Open the recognized PSP hard disc on your computer -> create a new folder under the name of "psp" -> open it -> create a new folder named as "game" -> copy and paste the "installer" folder and the "battery" folder into the "game" folder -> copy and paste the UPDATE.PBP file to the root directory of the PSP hard disc on your computer.
Step 3: Switch to the Game option on your PSP -> press X -> Go to "installer" and press X to run it.

Then there is a file named "msipl.bin" being created on the root directory of your PSP memory disc. And then take out the memory disc and put it back in. This step is a very important and necessary one. Don't omit it.
Step 4: Connect to your PSP to the computer. Then enter DOS system as mentioned in Step 1. Run the mspformat file by doing so:
Input "H:" -> press "Enter" -> input "cd pandora" -> press "Enter" -> input "cd minst" -> press "Enter" -> input "msinst.exe K K:msipl.bin " -> press "Enter". (Here K is the name of the disc that your PSP is recognized on your computer.) -> click "Yes" when you see the popUP window asking you whether you wanna do so or not.
Step 5: Switch to the Game option on your PSP -> press X -> Go to "battery" -> press X to run it -> press X to OK every popped up message to finish running the battery application.

Now, your pandora's battery has been created!
III. Downgrade your PSP now using the created pandora's battery
Now put back in your PSP Memory Stick and the battery -> power the PSP on, -> select the Downgrade option when you see three options, then your PSP will be downgraded in a very short time and it will be automatically shut down afterwards. You will see a blue screen after you power your PSP on again. But don't worry, just press the O key, and your PSP system then is already in version 1.5!
Note: The above process will turn your PSP battery to a pandora's battery that can be used for PSP downgrade. But the pandora's battery cannot be used to play PSP videos, games or music. And the process is not reversible. You will need to get an additional PSP battery for regular uses. However, you can use your pandora's battery to downgrade any PSP to version 1.5 or even repair you PSP.
