How to Use MacTheRipper to Extract Audio from DVD?

MacTheRipper not only allows you to rip DVDs but also extract DVD audio and save it in AC3 format. However, AC3 is not compatible with Mac so you can't play back the audio with QuickTime. This tutorial is divided into two parts: extract DVD audio with MacTheRipper, convert AC3 to MP3, AIFF or WAV.

Part 1: How to extract DVD audio with MacTheRipper

Step 1: When the DVD scanning is finished, click the "Mode" button and change to "Title Only Extraction", or select "Title – Chapter Extraction" if you want the entire title to be a single audio file.

Step 3: Go to "File" and choose "Save to" to set the destination folder for the output file. Then click "Go" to start extraction.

Part 2: How to convert AC3 to MP3, AIFF or WAV

Once you have the AC3 files extracted, you'll need to convert them to a usable format. You can get the freeware app mAC3Dec to convert them to MP3 or AAC. Use Stuffit Expender to decompress the file.

Step 1: Launch mAC3Dec, go to "File" and choose "Add AC 3…" to navigate to the destination folder where your DVD audio is saved.
