How to Use iSquint to Convert Videos for iPod on Mac for Free

Many Mac users are curious about how to get their TV shows, movies, and video files into a format that the iPod can play.I recommend using a freeware tool called iSquint. ISquint is a Mac-only program that can help you convert DVDs and other video files into formats that will play on your iPod. This guide will show you how to use iSquint to create iPod video.

If you also want to convert DVD to iPod, you might want to check out iMedia Converter for Mac (a professional Mac converter enabling you to convert videos of all popular formats and to rip DVD to video.).

1Download iSquint

Though iSquint has been discontinued, you can download it from macupdate or build iSquint by yourself using Techspansion's open source.

2Install iSquint

Double click the .dmg you downloaded and drag the iSquint icon into the applications folder on your finder sidebar.

Make sure that you've checked "Optimize for iPod" and then select the "H.264 Encoding" checkbox, as that's the high-quality iPod video format.

Then, you can determine the quality of the encoding. The better the quality, the larger the file, of course.

Now,click the "Start" button at he bottom of the window.

Tips: Always check "H.264 Encoding". If your video originally came from a camcorder (not a digital camera) click "Advanced" and check "Deinterlace".
