To watch MKV video on Mac, I recommend trying either MPlayer OS X or VLC Media Player. They are both free. These free multimedia players are excellent and can tackle many of the video formats unknown to QuickTime. They contain a decoder to decode the MKV files. They will also play many of the formats you will find inside the .MKV file.

How do I create a subtitle file (I'm using iSkysoft iMedia Converter Deluxe for Mac)? I see where to click to "Load subtitles" I just don't see any info on how to create the subtitle file (i.e., I'd like to put the name of the person speaking in the lower left corner of the video).

Hi everyone! I tried to convert a MVK file to MPG and it worked pretty well the thing is that, the original file had subtitles included in the MVK and after converting they just disappeared. What should i do to convert and keep the subtitles? thank you all

But i can chose more than one audo right?? Convert the file with two or three audos??

Seere, you can choose the audio tracks in the main window, or the default one will be used. To add subtitle, click the subtitle option in the main window and load your subtitles in SRT, ASS, or SSA format.

I have a question... hopefully someone will answer it... If i download a video with two languages... can this convert the video to mp4 without having to chose between the dual audio?? cause all the ones that I\'ve found... make me choose... plus i need options for adding subtitles...

The MKV file always seemed to me like a difficult file to convert. But, after reading about it on your page I started to change my mind about it.

Could you tell me about other free MKV converters?

Hard subs won\'t loss until you crop the screen, so yes, Video Converter for Mac converts MKV to MP4 without losing the subtitle. For changing soft sub to hard sub, you need to get the subtitle file (SRT, ASS, SSA) and \'burn\' to video in \"Edit > Subtitle\" tab.
