System requirements

Notes:

If the device is connected to your iTunes, you are freely to copy iPod to/from your iTunes or Mac.

If not, there are two situations:

  1. From Device to iTunes/Mac: There's no limit to transferring files from any device to your iTunes. But you need to authorize your iTunes if you want to play transferred DRM protected files.
  2. From iTunes/Mac to Device: You can transfer files without DRM from your iTunes/Mac to any device (iPhone excluded), without erasing the contents in the device. For DRM protected files, you need to backup DRM protected files in device to your iTunes first.
