What is AVCHD file?

AVCHD is a format jointly developed by Sony and Panasonic for tapeless consumer camcorders. The format allows recording high definition video onto 8cm DVD discs, SD/SDHC memory cards, "Memory Stick" cards and hard disk drives.AVCHD camcorders do not use magnetic tape. AVCHD (AVC-HD, AVC HD) utilizes MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AVC) video compression codec and Dolby AC-3 (Dolby Digital) audio compression codec. Companies provide AVCHD Hardware Products include: Canon, Hitachi, JVC, Panasonic and Sony.

What is MTS file?

MTS format is a high-definition MPEG, AVC, H.264 transport stream video file format which commonly used by HD camcorders such as Sony, Canon, Panasonic.

These files are also present on Blu-ray disc compilations, therefore they are capable of storing quite a large amount of information and data tracks.

What is M2TS file?

The M2TS container with filename extension .mts or .m2ts contains videos recorded using AVCHD camcorders, such as the Sony's HDR-SR(xx)series models.

Panasonic, Canon and other brands of AVCHD camcorders also store recorded video in M2TS container format.

M2TS files are also present on Blu-ray disc compilations.
