The first step is to connect your Android device to your computer via a USB cable and enable the USB Debugging mode. The software shall automatically recognize the device. If it doesn't do so, it means that the USB debugging mode hasn't been enabled on your Android device. To do so, follow the on-screen instruction or take the following these steps.
1. For users using Android version 2.3 or earlier –
Tap on Settings > Applications > Development. Click the box next to USB Debugging.
2. For users using Android version 3.0 to 4.1 –
Tap on Settings > Developer Options. Click the box next to USB Debugging.
3. For users using Android version 4.2 or later –
Now that USB debugging has been enabled, iSkysoft Android Data Recovery will automatically detect your device. Click on the "Next" button. This will allow the software to analyze your device data.
Things to Note:
1. Make sure that you have at least 20% of battery life on your phone before you start off with data recovery.
2. For users who have already rooted their device, Superuser authorization needs to be given to iSkysoft Android Data Recovery before scanning can start. To do so, simply click on the "Allow" button when prompted. There will be also an on-screen instruction.
In order to help you save valuable time during the scanning process, the software asks you if there is a specific file type you wish to recover. This lets the software only scan for the desired file type, thereby making data recovery easier and faster. Simply tick the box next to the desired file type. Alternatively, click on the "Select All" button, if you wish to retrieve lost data for all file types. Once you choose the desired file types, click on the "Next" button.
After you click on "Next", a new popup window opens up. Here, you are offered two different Scan Modes to choose from – the "Standard Mode" and the "Advanced Mode". The Standard Mode performs a basic scan for deleted files on your device. On the other hand, the Advanced Mode performs an in-depth scan of your device, thereby taking more time.
Once the program scans your Android device for the selected file types, it shows all recovered results on the screen. You browse through individual file types by selecting the desired option in the left sidebar. Another option to filter out deleted files, is to select the option "Only Show Deleted Items" on the top of the screen.
Once you're done previewing the recovered data, simply check the boxes next to the items that you wish to recover, and click on the "Recover" button located on the bottom right of your screen. This will open up a new window, which lets you select the path wherein you want to save the recovered files. The software recovers the required files and sends them to the given address.
Note: The trial version can simply scan for the lost files and let you preview the result. To recover all your lost data, you need to actually register your software in order to complete data recovery.
However, in order to ensure that all your deleted files get recovered, there are a few things that you need to take care of.
Refrain from using the device the moment you feel that important files are missing for no reason. These files may be missing from your screen, but they are very much present in the hard drive, simply waiting for new data to push them into oblivion. Thus, continued use of your smartphone or tablet before successful data recovery may lead to permanent loss of your missing files.
Have the iSkysoft Android Data Recovery handy. Data loss can occur at any time, and you don't want to end up getting stranded. After all, it becomes impossible to use the device after data loss. Download the software on your Windows computer so that you save valuable time when things go south.
