iPad and Apple TV can handle higher resolution, so Apple TV preset is recommended if you want to make the most of your iPad's HD feature and watch HD videos on your iPad.

1. Import DVD or video files to Handbrake

If you wanna rip commercial DVDs (Blu-ray DVD movies excluded), the Apple TV preset is fine.

"iPad's retina display makes iPad perfect for watching HD DVD movies, music video......." It doesn't give you a lot of confidence in an article when the first sentance is wrong. The iPad does not have a retina display! The iPhone4 and 4S are the only Apple devices currently with retina displays.
