MTS or M2TS files playback on Mac can be a tricky task for many Mac users. Many popular HD camcorders, like Canon VIXIA HF200, Canon FS200, Canon VIXIA HFS100, Canon VIXIA HG21, Panasonic HDC-HS300, Panasonic HDC-HS20, Sony HDR-CX100, Sony DCR-SR47, JVC GZ-HD40, JVC GZ-HD10 etc. record videos in MTS/M2TS format. Since MTS/M2TS is not well supported by Mac, this article will teach you how to play M2TS/MTS on Mac with or without extra media player applications. Players shown below might not support playing all MTS/M2TS files, which rests with used compression formats in a MTS/M2TS video file. If MTS/M2TS can't play your video well, try to convert MTS/M2TS to MOV so you can play it with the built-in QuickTime Player.

The program works fine with OS X 10.8.4. Can you please tell me more details about your issue? Many thanks.
I unsuccessfully tried this product and many others on OSX 10.8.4 with m2ts files generated by SONY Bravia W6 TV set. Is there any specific issue with this m2ts implementation? Many thanks for any suggestion you may have.
It was 2.0.8, but I\'ve recently upgraded to 2.1.2. I\'ll check if TS files are still ok for me.
What version of VLC do you use? It used to work for me with VLC, but for some reason it doesn\'t any more. I\'m on VLC 2.1.2, but I don\'t know if it\'s a problem with VLC or something else on my Mac.
I\'ve been using VLC for YEARS on the Mac just because it does what you\'d expect it to do. It plays TS files fine unless there\'s copy protection of course.
Thanks for the review and your efforts to assist users where Apple appears to have dropped the ball. File conversions are a nuisance at best and can reduce video quality. Not sure why Apple has failed to natively support the AVCHD/M2TS file types in Quick Time player. These files have been around for a while from most of the major video camera players and Apple is way behind the curve. Even Microsoft\'s boat anchor Media Player (as of Windows 7) can now play these files (though not well and I am running an i7-950 with an OCZ-RevoX2 PCIe drive). As you note, it seems VLC Mediaplayer is the best free product for this purpose at the moment.
what part of iLife 08 do I need? Because the separate programs cost 14 euro\'s each!
